Overview

Regardless of where we stand on any subject or issue there will always be a chance to encounter disagreements and opposition along the way. It is that opposition which is often intended to apply justice also tends to force  measures of balance. Balance is a huge part of the human equation in every aspect. It must be acquired for a number of complex reasons. Perhaps it is all about moral values but in the end balance needs to be achieved or civilizations tend to deteriorate into a condition known as social unrest. Despite who's wrong or right in a disagreement the concept of balance is often the beginning and foundation where working together. It is the transition period between the beginning of a dispute and the compromise which can be the most volatile and unpredictable moments. We saw that ever so clearly during and after the U. S. Presidential Election.

People often feel more secure with the idea that they have some degree of control in how situations turn out. Not just from having an opinion but as decision makers as well. Most civilized people understand that societies work better when there is a degree of order and processes to follow which are typically defined as laws.

The concept of voting was introduced as a method to give citizens the feeling that they were participating in making laws and electing persons who will hold up the citizens values. This process of voting can shift a culture from using volatile measures to incurring balance and allow them to settle their differences in such a way that avoids fighting. It is not a fool proof method and has been know to contain corruption and manipulation from opportunists. When deception and corruption infect the processes we create to live by it eventually results in the imbalance of what the people wanted and what has actually transpired. This leads to opposition with the quest to acquire truth and justice. That opposition eventually fuels a counter process of adjustments applied by citizens with the intent to force balance.

Many people attempt to acquire balance by doing what is called "protesting". Typically, ... protesters march with signs chanting key phrases which depict their opposition to a particular situation. On a small scale this tends to be nothing more than citizens voicing  their opinion. It carries less weight than desired. Large scale protesting comes with it's degree of uncertainties. Large scale protests with a repetitive frequency of occurrences typically gain plenty of attention. There are occasions when protesters get out of control as the wisdom of the crowd deteriorates often resulting in lawlessness. The message becomes lost and replaced with volatile unlawful action often resulting in interference from law enforcement.

.

Law enforcement is usually on the opposite side of protesters who believe they are involved to restore order by any means necessary, ... done also in the name of acquiring balance. Occasionally the situation erupts into social unrest where people are injured or killed and property destroyed. Sometimes the catalyst for such an event is triggered by the atmosphere and friction between  groups. Disruption between groups may not be related to the subject matter which brought the protesters out in the first place. On other occasions it is the clash itself which causes an escalation to a level of volatility and violence, ... as we have seen in recent news.

In regions where balance is non existent, such as with dictatorships, people are less aware or appreciative of the concept of freedom and are often conditioned with confinement and fear. Populations subject to oppressive rule become submissive as a culture yet divided on an individual basis. Seeds of freedom are planted and cultivated as new generations take the rolls of leadership. Oppressive dictatorships or kingdoms are known for denying their populations the right of choice or voice. The power they hold over the people is passed on to family or heirs.  Opposition generally takes a while to manifest in such regions but when it does it can be explosive often ending in the dismantling of the current government or kingdom.

As time marches forward it is becoming evident that our so called civilized world is coming unglued. It seems as though history has lessons to remind us of and that is to remember that all kingdoms and societies have one thing in common. They had a beginning and an end. They existed for a term and fell as well. Between those cycles of rise and fall are build ups of chaos and opposition. It's cyclic and inevitable to occur in the natural course of living in a civilized society.

.

Either way, ... riots resulting from protesting and demonstrations can present a degree of danger which can be hazardous to anyone be it directly involved or not and can result in the loss of property and lives and more.
